Hair transplant prices published in Boston, by graft band
On their own websites, 2 Boston clinics give a hair transplant price. A clinic is counted once in each row, using its lowest price for that row, and the same clinic may show up in several rows.
| What the clinic prices | Clinics | Median | Middle of the range |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price per graft | 2 | $4.00 | $3.99–$4.00 |
| Package, graft count not stated | 2 | $4,000 | $4,000–$4,000 |
Prices appear in US dollars, using each clinic’s wording from its own pages. The European Central Bank reference rates from November 3, 2026 were used. The middle half of the clinics makes up the middle of the range, or the whole range if fewer than four publish. A package may cover hotel and transfers, and the profile shows the wording each clinic uses. ECB rates.
Using the cost calculator, find the published price range for your own count of grafts in United States.

Which methods are available here, and how many clinics offer each?
| Method | Clinics | How grafts are taken | Donor area afterwards |
|---|---|---|---|
| FUE | 10 | A small round punch removes single follicular units one at a time. | The donor area has small dot scars spread across it, with no line. |
| Sapphire FUE | 0 | The clinic's own term for FUE using sapphire-tipped blades to make the recipient cuts | As FUE |
| DHI | 1 | The clinic's own term for FUE with grafts placed using an implanter pen | As FUE |
| FUT | 10 | A strip of scalp is removed, then cut into units under a microscope | A single linear scar, usually covered by the hair above it |
| Robotic | 3 | FUE with a robot-guided punch | As FUE |
With FUE, no linear scar is left on the donor area, and by day 7–10 the crusts are usually clear (Front Med 2026 review). Across 820 advanced FUE cases, scalp harvest averaged 2,956 grafts per case (Chouhan 2019). These totals cover only clinics listed here that name the method on their own websites.
Graft use by Norwood stage in published cases
On the Norwood scale, male hair loss is graded from I (none) to VII. Stage VII covers only a band that remains at the back and at the sides. Surgeons used these graft counts in two published series, so they are not a quote for your scalp.
| Norwood stage | Grafts used | Men |
|---|---|---|
| II | 500–1,000 | 15 |
| III | 1,000–1,800 | 63 |
| IV | 1,500–3,300 | 67 |
| V | 1,500–4,000 | 13 |
The source is 158 men treated with FUE, reported in table 2 by Wang et al., BMC Surgery 2024.
| Stage V–VII, area covered | Average grafts | Men |
|---|---|---|
| Front only | 2,982 | 308 |
| Front and mid-scalp | 4,164 | 352 |
| Crown only | 2,770 | 24 |
| Full coverage | 6,237 | 100 |
Source: 820 men at stage V–VII, Chouhan et al., J Cutan Aesthet Surg 2019, table 2.
The stage on its own does not decide the number. One study examined two men graded Norwood 3V. They needed 3,900 and 6,150 grafts after measurement of each bald area (Pittella et al., 2024). Before anyone measures your scalp, any quote is a guess.
Five details for you to settle before booking
- Ask who handles each step, including the incisions, graft removal and graft placement. Get the names, then check each one with your state medical board. You can also check every state at once with DocInfo.
- Request a written plan that gives the graft count, target zones, and price for that count.
- Ask to see patients treated by that clinic at 12 months, shot in matching light and angle. Results usually show at six to nine months, and some people see them at 12 (AAD).
- If growth is poor, ask whether a second session is included and how long the offer lasts.
- Price travel, medicine, follow-up visits, and time off work, plus the procedure, for the whole first year.
