How we check hair transplant clinics
Hair Transplant Index uses Google Maps to find listings tied to hair transplant searches across each covered city and country. A clinic remains listed only after passing both checks.
The pair of checks
- Map coordinates, a phone number and a street address must appear in each listing.
- On its own website, a clinic identifies FUE, FUT, DHI or a similar hair transplant method, or appears in an official register.
Among the 2,183 clinics identified, 1,438 pass. Between 2026-11-04 and 2026-11-04, we read clinic websites. During the same period, from 2026-11-04 to 2026-11-04, we read listings.
Registers
For 101 clinics, both name and location match a register entry. These are the files we use:
- CQC care directory, with a file date of 2026-10-28
- SHGM health-tourism lists, with a file date of 2026-10-05
Licences in the US are handled by 50 state boards. Those board checks follow, so each US profile reads “not checked yet” rather than guessing.
The Index score explained
Scores are out of 100, using checks anyone can make:
- Google rating, adjusted toward the country average when few reviews support it (45)
- Review totals (10)
- The clinic’s own site names a surgeon (15)
- Published price (10)
- Stated methods (5)
- Match with an official register, where the country has an open one (15)
Without an open register, the score uses only the other parts. Full method.
Ratings use this weighted average: (reviews × the clinic’s rating + 25 × the country’s average rating) ÷ (25 + reviews). Six reviews with a 5.0 do not outrank 900 reviews with a 4.8. Ranked lists require at least 10 reviews.
Prices
Only prices that the clinic’s own page ties to a hair transplant are counted, either per graft or as a package. We leave out financing limits, PRP, consultations and examples. Each figure links to its source page and includes the date.
What we exclude
We count reviews but never quote them. We never copy before-and-after photos. If any fact is absent, the profile omits it rather than guessing.
