Hair transplant prices published in Detroit, grouped by graft band
2 clinics in Detroit post the price of a hair transplant on their own site. Every clinic is counted once in a row, using its lowest price for that row, and the same clinic may show up in several rows.
| What the clinic prices | Clinics | Median | Middle of the range |
|---|---|---|---|
| Package of 1,501–2,500 grafts | 1 | $6,000 | $6,000 |
| Package, graft count not stated | 2 | $7,950 | $7,000–$8,900 |
Prices were captured from each clinic's own pages and follow its wording. They are stated in US dollars using European Central Bank reference rates from November 3, 2026, the date used. Clinics in the middle half form the “middle of the range”; when fewer than four publish, it covers the full range. A package may cover a hotel and transfers, and each clinic's own wording appears on its profile. ECB rates.
Use the price calculator to find the published price range for the graft count you have in United States.

The methods, and how many clinics here offer each one
| Method | Clinics | How grafts are taken | Donor area afterwards |
|---|---|---|---|
| FUE | 9 | One unit is removed at a time, using a small, round punch to extract each follicular unit. | Across the donor area, small dot scars appear instead of a continuous scar line. |
| Sapphire FUE | 0 | The clinic's own label for FUE, where sapphire-tipped blades make the recipient cuts | As FUE |
| DHI | 0 | A name the clinic gives FUE, where an implanter pen places the grafts | As FUE |
| FUT | 4 | A scalp strip is removed and separated into units under a microscope. | A single linear scar remains, usually concealed by the hair above. |
| Robotic | 2 | FUE with a robot-guided punch | As FUE |
FUE leaves the donor area without any linear scar, and by day 7–10 the crusts are usually gone (Front Med 2026 review). The average scalp harvest in 820 advanced FUE cases came to 2,956 grafts per case (Chouhan 2019). Here, we count clinics whose own site names the method.
Published cases: Norwood stage and graft use
Male hair loss is graded on the Norwood scale, from I (none) to VII (a band only at the back and sides). Surgeons actually used these graft counts in two published series; they are not a quote for your scalp.
| Norwood stage | Grafts used | Men |
|---|---|---|
| II | 500–1,000 | 15 |
| III | 1,000–1,800 | 63 |
| IV | 1,500–3,300 | 67 |
| V | 1,500–4,000 | 13 |

| Stage V–VII, area covered | Average grafts | Men |
|---|---|---|
| Front only | 2,982 | 308 |
| Front and mid-scalp | 4,164 | 352 |
| Crown only | 2,770 | 24 |
| Full coverage | 6,237 | 100 |
Source: 820 men at stage V–VII, Chouhan et al., J Cutan Aesthet Surg 2019, table 2.
The stage by itself does not decide the number. One study measured the bald area of two men graded Norwood 3V, who then needed 3,900 and 6,150 grafts (Pittella et al., 2024). Before your scalp is measured, any quote is a guess.
Before you book, settle these five points
- Ask who handles each part: making the incisions, taking the grafts, placing them. Collect the names, then look each one up through your state medical board, or check every state at once with DocInfo.
- Request a written plan that lists the graft count, the zones, and what that count costs.
- Please ask the clinic to show you its own patients at 12 months, using the same light and angle. Results show up at six to nine months for most people, and at 12 for some (AAD).
- Find out what happens if hair growth is poor, including whether a second session is covered and how long that offer lasts.
- Cost out the full first year: the procedure, medicine, travel, follow-up visits and time off work.
