Hair transplant prices published in Philadelphia, by graft band
On their own site, 2 Philadelphia clinics publish a hair transplant price. For each row, a clinic counts once at its lowest price for that row, though it may appear in more than one row.
| What the clinic prices | Clinics | Median | Middle of the range |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price per graft | 1 | $3.99 | $3.99 |
| Package, graft count not stated | 2 | $5,000 | $4,000–$6,000 |
The clinics provide their own price wording, collected from their sites and converted to US dollars using European Central Bank reference rates from November 3, 2026. The middle half of clinics makes up the middle range, or the full range appears if fewer than four publish prices. A package may cover a hotel and transfers, and each clinic profile uses its own wording. ECB rates.
Use the cost calculator to find the published price range for your graft count in United States.

Methods offered and clinic counts here
| Method | Clinics | How grafts are taken | Donor area afterwards |
|---|---|---|---|
| FUE | 11 | With a small round punch, single follicular units are taken one at a time | No line, only small dot scars across the donor area |
| Sapphire FUE | 1 | The clinic’s term for FUE using sapphire-tipped blades to make recipient cuts | As FUE |
| DHI | 1 | The clinic’s term for FUE using an implanter pen to place grafts | As FUE |
| FUT | 6 | Removing a strip of scalp, then dividing it into units under a microscope | A single linear scar, which hair above it usually hides |
| Robotic | 3 | FUE with a robot-guided punch | As FUE |
With FUE, the donor area shows no linear scar, and crusts usually clear between day 7 and day 10 (Front Med 2026 review). Across 820 advanced FUE cases, each scalp harvest averaged 2,956 grafts (Chouhan 2019). Only clinics here with the method named on their own sites are counted
Norwood stage and graft use in published cases
On the Norwood scale, male hair loss is graded from I (none) through VII (only a band of hair at the back and sides). Surgeons actually used these graft counts in two published series; they are not a quote for your scalp.
| Norwood stage | Grafts used | Men |
|---|---|---|
| II | 500–1,000 | 15 |
| III | 1,000–1,800 | 63 |
| IV | 1,500–3,300 | 67 |
| V | 1,500–4,000 | 13 |
See table 2 in Wang et al., BMC Surgery 2024, involving 158 men treated with FUE.
| Stage V–VII, area covered | Average grafts | Men |
|---|---|---|
| Front only | 2,982 | 308 |
| Front and mid-scalp | 4,164 | 352 |
| Crown only | 2,770 | 24 |
| Full coverage | 6,237 | 100 |
Source: 820 men at stage V–VII, Chouhan et al., J Cutan Aesthet Surg 2019, table 2.
Stage by itself does not determine the number. After measuring the bald area of two men graded Norwood 3V, one study found they needed 3,900 and 6,150 grafts (Pittella et al., 2024). Any quote before your scalp is measured is only a guess.
Five points to settle before booking
- Find out who handles each step, including the incisions, graft removal, and graft placement. After getting the names, check each one through your state medical board, or use DocInfo to check every state at once.
- Request a written plan that lists the graft count, target zones, and price for that count.
- Ask to see how the clinic’s own patients look at 12 months, using the same light and angle Results appear at six to nine months for most people, while some appear at 12 (AAD).
- Find out what happens when growth is poor. Ask if a second session is included, and how long that lasts.
- Figure out the full first-year cost. Count the procedure, the medicine, the follow-up visits, your travel, and the time you take off work.
