Hair transplant prices published in San Antonio, by graft band
On their own sites, 3 San Antonio clinics list a hair transplant price. Per row, a clinic is counted once, using its lowest price there; it may appear in several rows.
| What the clinic prices | Clinics | Median | Middle of the range |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price per graft | 2 | $5.00 | $4.50–$5.50 |
| Package, graft count not stated | 2 | $5,500 | $5,000–$6,000 |
Written as each clinic writes them on its own pages, prices are in US dollars at European Central Bank reference rates dated November 3, 2026. “Middle of the range” covers the central half of the clinics. It covers the full range instead when fewer than four publish. Packages may cover a hotel and transfers. The profile uses each clinic's own wording. ECB reference rates.
Use the cost calculator to find the published price range for your graft count in United States.

Methods, and how many clinics here offer each
| Method | Clinics | How grafts are taken | Donor area afterwards |
|---|---|---|---|
| FUE | 6 | A small round punch takes single follicular units one at a time. | No line is left, only small dot scars across the donor area. |
| Sapphire FUE | 1 | The clinic’s own name for FUE, using sapphire-tipped blades for the recipient cuts | As FUE |
| DHI | 0 | The clinic's own term for FUE, where an implanter pen places the grafts. | As FUE |
| FUT | 6 | A strip of scalp is removed and then cut into units under a microscope. | A single linear scar, usually covered by the hair above it. |
| Robotic | 0 | FUE with a robot-guided punch | As FUE |
Crusts usually clear by day 7–10, and FUE leaves no linear scar in the donor area (Front Med 2026 review). Among 820 advanced FUE cases, scalp harvest averaged 2,956 grafts per case (Chouhan 2019). These counts cover clinics here that name the method on their own site.
Norwood stage and the grafts used in published cases
The Norwood scale rates male hair loss from I (none) through VII (a band only at the back and sides). In two published series, surgeons actually used these graft counts; they do not represent a quote for your scalp.
| Norwood stage | Grafts used | Men |
|---|---|---|
| II | 500–1,000 | 15 |
| III | 1,000–1,800 | 63 |
| IV | 1,500–3,300 | 67 |
| V | 1,500–4,000 | 13 |

| Stage V–VII, area covered | Average grafts | Men |
|---|---|---|
| Front only | 2,982 | 308 |
| Front and mid-scalp | 4,164 | 352 |
| Crown only | 2,770 | 24 |
| Full coverage | 6,237 | 100 |
Source: 820 men at stage V–VII, Chouhan et al., J Cutan Aesthet Surg 2019, table 2.
The stage by itself does not set the number. In one study, two men rated Norwood 3V needed 3,900 and 6,150 grafts after their bald areas were measured (Pittella et al., 2024). Any quote given before your scalp is measured is only a guess.
Before you book, settle five points.
- Ask which person handles making incisions, removing grafts and placing them. Collect the names, then search each one through your state medical board. You can also check every state at once on DocInfo.
- Request a written plan that lists the graft count, the zones and the price for that count.
- Ask the clinic to show you its own patients at 12 months, with the same light and angle. Most people notice results after six to nine months, while some notice them at 12 (AAD).
- Find out what happens if growth is poor, including whether a second session is included and how long that offer lasts.
- Add up every cost for the first year: the procedure, medicine, travel, time off work and follow-up visits.
